Care for your adornment

Piercing aftercare

Simple, consistent care supports a smoother healing process. Follow the instructions Kiersten gives you for your specific piercing.

01

Keep it clean

  • Wash your hands before touching or cleaning the piercing.
  • Rinse with packaged sterile wound-wash saline containing only 0.9% sodium chloride and water.
  • Rinse away residue in the shower and gently dry with clean disposable paper products.
02

Let it heal

  • Leave the initial jewelry in place unless Kiersten or a qualified medical professional advises otherwise.
  • Avoid unnecessary touching, twisting, rotating, pressure, friction, and sleeping directly on the piercing.
  • Keep cosmetics, lotions, sprays, and other personal-care products away from the healing site.
03

Avoid irritation

  • Do not use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, harsh antibacterial cleansers, ointments, or homemade salt mixtures.
  • Avoid pools, hot tubs, lakes, and other bodies of water while healing when possible.
  • Protect the piercing from snagging, impact, and contaminated surfaces.
04

Know what is normal

  • Early tenderness, localized swelling, mild discoloration, and a small amount of pale crust can occur.
  • Healing happens from the outside inward; a piercing may appear healed before the channel is stable.
  • Return for recommended downsizing or follow-up instead of changing jewelry on your own.

Concerned about your piercing?

Contact Kiersten for irritation or jewelry concerns. Seek prompt medical attention for severe or worsening redness, swelling or pain; red streaks; fever; or thick, foul-smelling green, yellow, or gray discharge. Do not remove jewelry when infection is suspected unless a qualified medical professional instructs you to do so.
